Salmon fishing
in the Garvie River and trout
fishing in Loch Oscaig is available from the
Summer Isles Hotel. Boat hire and fishing on
Loch Lurgainn can be arranged with Inver-
Polly estates. Trout fishing in the numerous
local lochans can be arranged at the Coigach
Craft & Gift Shop in Polbain.
Sea angling
and Summer Isles cruises are
offered on the M.V. Hectoria which, in the
Summer season leaves from the Achiltibuie
pier.
There is a
concrete slipway at the sheltered
Old Dornie harbour (about 1.5 miles from
Windyhill) where small boats may be launched.
Boats can also be launched from the beach at
Badentarbet Bay.
There are numerous
walks in the area varying
from the easy to the adventurous. For the
energetic there is no shortage of mountains.
Nearby there
are sandy beaches on Isle Ristol
(which can be reached via a causeway from Old
Dornie at low tide), at Achnahaird and Garvie.
Further afield,
puffins and skuas on the Handa
Island bird reserve, exotic plants at Inverewe
Gardens, semi-precious stones and mermaids
at Sandwood Bay...
